German Workplace Orientation
A private, role-specific session for international professionals preparing to join—or newly working in—a German organisation.
A clear start in your actual workplace
General country guides cannot tell you how a Hamburg agency, a family-owned manufacturer and a Berlin research institute differ. This session starts with your role, reporting line, sector and immediate concerns. Together we separate common German working conventions from the habits of one company or manager.
It is designed for professionals who have accepted an offer, started within the past six months, or are moving into a German-led team. It is not immigration, tax, employment-law or psychological advice.
What we work through
- How directness, precision and disagreement may sound in your setting
- Expectations around preparation, punctuality and meeting participation
- What Feierabend, annual leave and sick leave boundaries mean in practice
- How decisions are documented and where informal influence sits
- Useful language for asking for context, feedback or a clearer priority
- A realistic first-90-days plan
Before, during and after
After booking, you receive a short intake asking about your role, team and three situations you want to understand. Please send it at least 48 hours before the appointment; confidential details may be anonymised.
The 90-minute conversation combines explanation, case discussion and rehearsal. Within two working days, you receive a concise written map of the points we covered. One follow-up email within seven days is included.
Provider and confidentiality
Sessions are led by Mara Voss, an intercultural workplace adviser with twelve years of experience supporting relocation programmes and internationally staffed teams in northern Germany. Your notes are kept only for delivering the agreed service and handled as described in our privacy policy.
